March 8, established as Women's Day, is not another anniversary or mass celebration. It is a day – a reminder that all forms of gender-based violence still exist and we experience it daily and suffocatingly. At home, in the workplace, in the intermediate spaces - means of transport, recreation areas, on the street - we are constantly called upon to regulate ourselves, to limit our bodies and our movement, in order to avoid the violence that we are taught we should have foreseen. At the same time, we are called to show that everything has been solved and to celebrate such days with wishes and flowers.

Deeply believing that art is not only beauty, but a means of social change, we have chosen, through the discourse of literature, this day to highlight and denounce this condition and invite you to the reading evening we are organizing on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 20.30 in Altai (65 Themistokleous, 106 83 Athens). At the end of the evening there will be a discussion, while anyone from the audience who wants to recite his work related to gender-based violence, is more than welcome.

During the event, the public will be able to buy books by the participants and other women authors. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to the women's shelter of the European Women's Network.

The shelter of the European Women's Network is a grassroots women's organization with a voluntary character, organizing actions around women's issues in the European Union. Members of the Network are women and women's groups who take part in campaigns aimed at influencing Greek and European policy on equality issues. The shelter is a shelter for women staying temporarily until victims of abuse settle in a permanent public shelter for abused women. The proceeds will be given for care and medicines to the hosted women and femininities.
